FOCUS: To Belong
Beloved,
The way You always did
Of sleep and awakening
Resurrection and death
Speak of God
And of us
And of You.
Speak clearly again
While we forecast riddles
And mistrust our own eyes
Focused on the edges of the pages
Filled with Prophet’s words
And maps to Paradise
Tell us again, how to get there
While we complain and ask You to carry us
Forgive us again
Carry us anyway
Love us more
We are Yours after all, are we not?
And so with gentle hands and an anxious heart,
You cradle us
Like crystal figurines
And wrap us in silk scarves
Thanking us, of course
For allowing such lavishing to be thrust upon us
And the burden of this sudden Bliss
Free of all accountability
Or the will to reciprocate
Our eyes meet
And for a brief moment
The light changes
And the tilt of the earth
And in an instant
We are there
And all Your waiting has been worthwhile
To hold us the way You have longed to
Like the River Jordan
Held Another
In it’s Unconditional embrace
Beneath the Surface of Your endless depths
We fall into You
Loved
Absolved
And free...
To Belong
Amen.
