PRAYER FOR PEACE

FOCUS:  Listening

Teach me to listen, Beloved, to those nearest me... 

Help me to be aware that no matter what words I hear, 

The message is always, “Accept the person I am. Listen to me.”

Teach me to listen, Beloved, to those far from me,

The whisper of the hopeless,

The plea of the forgotten,

And the cry of the anguished.

May I  always demonstrate generosity of spirit 

And give of myself whenever possible.

Teach me to listen, Beloved, to my conscience. 

Help me to distinguish between the voice of Love and my own judgement.

Teach me to recognize Your voice,

In times of peace and in times of turmoil,

In certainty and in doubt,

In noise and in silence.

Teach me to keep a clear mind and an open heart.
Bestow upon me a quiet humility.
May I never be proud or arrogant.

Let me own up to my failings and my mistakes

And to allow others theirs

Without the need to condemn.

Allow me instead to offer support and healing in their time of struggle. 

In Your Love and in Your Grace, may my faith be everlasting.
In Your Love and in Your Grace, may I always stand secure 

Knowing that You Love me and that You gave everything for me.

In Your most Beloved name I pray,
